Lamb of God to raise hell again in Manila

Lamb of God to raise hell again in Manila

Lamb of God is returning to Manila.

No, we’re not talking about the rockstar Pope, or even that Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

More like, we’re talking about those American metal noiseniks who’s scheduled to crank up their amps at the World Trade Center Tent on March 6.

The best

Who cares? You should! Because Lamb of God happens to be one of the best thrash metal bands on the planet. Think Metallica but louder, harder and more melodic.

They are so singular that a new term, groove metal, has been concocted to separate them from the rest of the heavy metal herd.

It’s also their second coming hereabouts and they’ve got their own trail of controversies that only served to up their cachet.

Controversies

1. They’ve been barred from playing at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles when the church that owns the venue learned the band’s previous name was Burn The Priest.

2. Mike Brosnan, the founder of the band’s record label Legion Records was killed by a drunk driver as he was crossing the street in Philadelphia. Ironically, the band’s 2004 live album was entitled “Killadelphia.”

3. In 2013, Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development refused to issue permit for a Lamb of God performance at a concert hall in Kuala Lumpur contending that the band's work could infringe on religious sensitivities and cultural values.

4. They’ve been accused of being racist and sexist when they released a T-shirt depicting a pilgrim holding a female Native American at gunpoint for her Thanksgiving dinner.

5. Vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested by Czech police in 2010 on charges of committing intentional bodily harm when a 19-year-old fan climbed onto the stage with him. The teen fell, hit his head on the floor and later died of the injury. He was found morally responsible for the teen’s death but not criminally liable.
