The latest made-in-France presented at the Milan Furniture Fair

The biggest event in interior decorating and design, taking place this week, attracts designers from all over the world every year. Here's a look at the latest from French designers.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

The two brothers will present their "Officina" collection, created in collaboration with the Italian design house Magis. For this project, the two natives of Brittany opted to work with forged metal to create tables and chairs. For the two designers, working with this material creates objects whose imperfect appearance resembles that of the design. Ronan Bouroullec adds that "This is a hybrid project in that we use a pretty artisanal technique to create a rather industrial project."

Sacha Lakic

For Roche Bobois, French designer Sacha Lakic created two pieces that recall nature. The "Pollen" bookshelf, with its hexagonal cells, was clearly inspired by beehives. Lakic notes, "I conceived this bookshelf as a collection of shelves simply suspended by a thin metal fishnet: an almost abstract network of hexagonal cells which spreads out before you." As for the armchair, "Aircell," it brings to mind a flower bud.

Patrick Jouin

The designer, responsible in part for the restoration of the Plaza Athénée in Paris, is presenting three new projects in Milan. First up is the modular sofa "Social" that he designed for Pedrali. With straight seats, angled seats and footstools, it allows for multiple configurations. The designer also produced a first-time collaboration with the Italian firm Fiam, specialists in curved glass. The result? A glass window, designated "Aura," whose purpose is to mask the hinges of the furniture, thus enhancing the object it is protecting. Finally, for Co-Edition, he created "Scala," a group of chairs covered in black, brown, white and red calfskin.

Christophe Pillet

With Turkish brand Enne, Christophe Pillet created vibrant-colored transparent side tables, along with much simpler wooden ones dressed in white.

Bruno Moinard

The man responsible for Cartier's stores and the upcoming Qatari Galeries Lafayette is collaborating with Chevalier, specialists in contemporary rugs. He is presenting "New Orleans," five colored rugs with crosshatched patterns.
