Lea Salonga, Ryan Cayabyab to receive lifetime achievement honor
With 30 music categories and 2 special awards to be presented, it looks like the 6th Star Awards for Music is shaping up to be a marathon show.
The ceremonies, which organizers promise is going to be glittering and star-studded, happens on September 14, 2014 at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City.
The yearly music awards show is chosen by an electoral body from the PMPC, which, this year, is handing out two Lifetime Achievement Awards named after icons of popular music: Asia's Queen of Songs, Ms. Pilita Corrales and National Artist for Music Levi Celerio, who was cited in Guinness Book of World Records for his leaf playing.
Lea Salonga has been chosen to receive the Pilita Corrales Lifetime Achievement Award, while Maestro Ryan Cayabyab has been named for the Levi Celerio Award.
Aside from omnibus categories like Song of the Year, Male and Female Recording Artists of the Year, and so on, the awards show is also honoring outstanding work in genres like R&B, rap, rock and dance—including novelty songs, compilations and revivals.
It will also hand out awards for concert performances and videos, as well as album art.
