Would you let a shop window tell you what to wear?

An interactive store window that analyzes what you're wearing and recommends a personalized new outfit based on your age, gender and complexion could be the next big thing in virtual shopping technology.

AS Colourmatic aims to encourage shoppers to abandon their wardrobe staples of blacks, whites and greys and opt for riskier, more colorful choices.

The brainchild of Australasian apparel brand AS Colour, the concept uses "color science" to help customers make more fashionable choices.

Being billed as "the world's first digital critic," the Colourmatic features a camera that focuses on the customer and picks up the colors in his or her outfit.

Each user is given a rating based on how complementary, original and relevant (in fashion terms) the colors they are wearing are.

Users can then opt to get advice from the machine, whereby the machine removes the "weakest link" from the outfit and recommends a more vibrant alternative to fit in with the ensemble.

Naturally, the new color can be found in store, and AS Colour reports that sales have increased by 16 percent since the project was launched.
