New line of James Bond comics coming in 2015

The early career of fictional super-spy James Bond will be explored in a series of comic books set for 2015.

The announcement comes after Dynamite Entertainment reached an agreement with Ian Fleming's estate that covers comic books, graphic novels, print and digital.

Dynamite's specialty is the creation of comics based on licensed characters, especially those originating from live-action film and TV, with "Army of Darkness," "Red Sonja" and "The Expendables" on its roster, while material based on "Django Unchained" and "Shaft" is forthcoming.

This latest license means that Dynamite can not only come up with its own Bond adventures but also create
comics based on "existing Bond stories" (per The Hollywood Reporter); for now, the publisher is setting its first Bond outing before the events of "Casino Royale," providing an opportunity to explore Bond's first steps into the world of international diplomacy and subterfuge.

The announcement was made ahead of the New York Comic Con, which runs October 9-12.
