London Fashion Week lands a new venue

Minnie Mouse and David Beckham set to be the darlings of London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is moving into the Brewer Street Car Park venue in London's Soho, drawing an end to its six-year run at the Somerset House, the British Fashion Council announced on Monday.

Effective as of September, the new base for Fashion Week will take over two floors of the iconic art deco Brewer Street Car Park for everything from runway shows and designer showrooms to registration and press, buyer and sponsor spaces.

Designed by architect JJ Joass, the car park space dates back to 1929 and has been the locale for a number of cultural events.

The British Fashion Council, which will keep its headquarters at the Somerset House, and British Council also used it last season to exhibit over 110 emerging fashion designers from nearly 30 countries as part of Fashion Week's open-to-the-public International Fashion Showcase.

London Fashion Week runs from September 18-22.
