Louis CK to write, direct and star in ‘I'm a Cop'

Actor Louis CK

One of America's greatest and most successful living stand-up comedians is returning to cinema with the story of a volunteer police officer living in his mother's shadow.

Although Louis CK has taken several supporting roles in recent films, most notably in the Oscar-nominated "American Hustle," he hasn't directed for the big screen since 2001's poorly received "Pooty Tang."

However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, in the intervening years, the comedian believes he has built up the skill set necessary to make a film comedy that counts.

Still, some things won't change. His character is reportedly a middle-aged underachiever with emotional baggage and depressive tendencies.
