Louise de los Reyes: I'm not pregnant

If controversy is sign that a showbiz personality has arrived or is at least on the verge of stardom, Louise de los Reyes has reasons to be proud. She has been rumored to be pregnant, was accused of stealing Aljur Abrenica from his ex, Kylie Padilla, and got dumped by former boyfriend Enzo Pineda, who reportedly suspected that Louise was dating her “Kambal Sirena” co-star.

The Yahoo Celebrity 2014 Female Emerging Star of the Year nominee shrugs off the pregnancy rumors because she insists they’re absolutely false. It just so happened that she posted something about “malakas maglihi ang buntis” and those who overlooked the Magpakailanman hashtag concluded that Louise is on the family way.

Louise insists she was just promoting the drama series, where her character is pregnant. Her real-life status is a far cry from her role, thank you.

Aljur just a friend

Another rumor which she takes with a grain of salt is her supposed relationship with Aljur. Yes, she says, they go out, but on group dates with the cast and crew of the just-concluded “Kambal Sirena.”

“Never naging kami ni Aljur. Na-misinterpret ng tao ang closeness namin. Most of the time kaeksena ko siya so nakikita kaming sweet,” she says in an interview after the presscon of Island Dreams, winner of the Most Gender-Sensitive Award, New Wave category in the 39th Metro Manila Filmfest.

It’s just too bad, she adds, that people have misjudged her. And it hurts.

Licking her wounds

Yes, she may be a celebrity, but Louise wants to let everyone know her feelings get bruised like any normal person does.

She’s still licking her wounds after boyfriend of three years Enzo Pineda broke up with her reportedly because of Aljur.

“Three years din yon. Minahal mo yun tao. Naging masaya ka.”

You feel Louise’s pain when she tells you her only regret is that she and Enzo didn’t give their rudely-interrupted relationship the proper closure.

Lessons learned

“Natatakot ako. At the same time hindi ko naibigay sa kanya ang maayos (na paghihiwalay).”

Bitter doesn't describe Louise's feelings after the breakup. She is confident time will heal her wounds and  she will carry the lessons she has learned up to the time she finds Mr. Right and walks down the aisle.

“I am a stronger person. Dati panay puso kasi mas bata ako. Hindi ko naiintindihan ang sinasabi ng mga tao, kung nakakabuti sa yo. Akala ko sinasaktan ako nila. Naging sensitive ako.”

Trusting herself

Now, Louise whispers a little prayer before taking action. She has also learned to trust herself more.

The new outlook shows a braver Louise, willing to take charge of her life.

That’s why the tourist guide role in “Island Dreams” is something Louise can identify with.

Reaching for the stars

Like Julie, her character, Louise is bent on reaching for the stars and more.

“Ang expectation ko sa sarili ko may maging better actress from my last soap. You’re only as good as your last show.”

Louise has reason to hope. Heartache has made her a better actress.

“Iba ang pinaghuhugutan ko sa bawat eksena. Ito ang magiging bala mo rin.”

Inward-looking

Pain has given birth to a more inward-looking Louise. She knows all the more that the key to survival is herself, and no one else. So she must focus on her feelings and dreams.

“Gusto ko kilalanin ang sarili ko. I want to focus on God.”

Perhaps then, she will find the answer to her own question about love.

“Hindi ko alam kung kaya ko pang magmahal ng tama.”

What she knows is so far is that “kailangan mag-end ang relationship para kayo mag grow; kailangan kami (ni Enzo) na mag part ways kasi iba na gusto niyang puntahan at iba ang gusto kong puntahan.”

Wish list

Louise is clear on what she wants to do in her life and career. She wants to play a meanie on screen because she has never known how it is to be one.

“Never pa ako naging palaban (on screen).“

She can also use her martial arts skills to play an action role ala Angelie Jolie in “Salt.”

On a personal note, Louise wants to travel where there are beaches – be it Palawan, Boracay or anywhere in the Philippines.

Louise can’t wait for her next adventure.
