Marjorie Barretto quickly defended her family after daughter Julia Barretto was criticized when her father, Dennis Padilla accused the young actress of snubbing him at Dreamscape’s Christmas party.

A report published in Philippine Entertainment Portal quoted Dennis as saying Julia did not talk to him as she mingled with party guests.

Dennis added that the last time he and Julia talked was at the wake Randy Santiago's mother Cielito Legaspi-Santiago last September. It will also be recalled that Julia filed a petition to change her surname from Baldivia (Dennis' surname) to Barretto.

Marjorie told PEP Julia was scared when she learned Dennis was at the party and that the comedian should have made the first move because it was he who saw his daughter first.

"If you know that all is well with your relationship with your child, kung wala siyang guilt towards your child, na may away sila, the instinct of the father is lalapitan mo siya. 'Mag-isa ka lang ba, anak? Samahan kita sa loob.’ Hindi ba ganun ang ama? Why don’t you approach her? Anak niya yun, e," Marjorie said in the report.

She adds that Julia wants to settle issues with Dennis, but their schedules always clash.

Quick to judge

Marjorie further said on Instagram that those who don't know her are always quick to judge.

"In my lifetime I have been called many things and many names... Most of the time by people who have never met me, nor have been part of any of my life battles. They were never part of my journey. But no one, without knowing me first can question how I am as a mother."

Marjorie and Dennis, who have been separated for eight years, have three children- Julia, Claudia and Leon.

The mother of four said she raised her children well while facing the challenges of single parenthood.

Two side to a story

"I am not a perfect parent, and it is impossible to raise perfect children. But at least I can proudly say... Pinalaki ko ang mga anak ko, Hindi ko sila pinabayaan kahit kailan. Kahit nahihirapan na ako, kahit marami akong ibang problema, kahit maysakit ako, kahit wala akong pera, kahit wala akong katuwang, kahit sa anong panahon ... I never stopped being a parent."

Marjorie calls her critics lucky for not experiencing what her family is going through.

"There is always two sides of a story. To those who continually judge me and my children... God bless you all. You are very lucky you didn't have to endure what my children and I had to. But a mother hurts so much more when her child is hurting. It is painful.I can only pray for strength everyday for me and all my children."

She addressed previous reports and pointed out, "There is a big difference between the TRUTH and his story. Let God be the judge of that."
