Two months after her split with nonshowbiz guy Chino Copuyoc, Kapuso actress Maxene Magalona wants to focus on herself and her career.

"I think the reason why I need to take a breather muna is I need to focus on myself first. Hindi ko masyado naaalagaan ang sarili ko. So I need to do that muna," she told Yahoo Philippines at the purple carpet of the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014, which she hosted with Robi Domingo last Friday, July 18

Not dating again

Maxene is not even dating again because she’d rather “put my heart into my career and loving myself."

She and Chino ended their 11-month relationship amicably.

"We don't talk anymore but I still consider him a good friend. I still remember the things I learned from our relationship. In every relationship naman may natutunanan ako."

Since this isn't her first breakup, Maxene already knows how to handle herself (Renz Fernandez and Neil Arce used to be her boyfriends. She was also linked to reality show star and varsity player JC Tiuseco).

Many break-ups

"I'm very good. Alam naman ng mga tao how many break-ups I've gone through. So the most important thing is how you are still standing after everything. Like I've always said, I already lost the important man in my life (her father, the late Francis Magalona) so kung iyon kinaya ko, what more pa yung break-up?" she said.

Maxene now has more time to help sister Saab prepare for her wedding to musician Jim Bacarro next year. Maxene will be the maid of honor while her brother Elmo Magalona will be the groomsman.

"It's a bit hectic but it's also a way for my sister and I to bond. It's every girl's dream to plan and have her own wedding. It's very sentimental for me," Maxene said.
