More stars tapped in papal TV series 'Young Pope'

James Cromwell is the latest actor to join the cast of “Young Pope,” starring Jude Law and Diane Keaton.

In the papal drama destined for the small screen, Cromwell will play Cardinal Michael Spencer, mentor to Law’s character, Lenny.

The highly international cast will also include Cecile de France, Silvio Orlando, Javier Camara, Ludivine Sagnier and Toni Bertorelli.

The eight-episode series will revolve around Pontificate of Pius XIII, born Lenny Belardo (Law) and follow the young Pontiff as he struggles to navigate his role as the as messenger of God amidst betrayal and abandonment.

The show was created by Paolo Sorrentino and is jointly produced by Sky, HBO and Canal Plus.
