Music, skating and sizzling summer at the Circuit Fest

The Circuit Makati was launched last January as Ayala Land's part in the “Make It Happen, Make It Makati” campaign. In the spirit of living up to that slogan, the newest entertainment district in the area is holding the very first Circuit Fest 2013 Music and Skate, an all-day event featuring the adventurous mix that is music and skateboarding.

Slated on May 25—right smack in the middle of the scorching summer heat—the event promises to be a fun day for the young and the young at heart.

Skating names Riley Hawk and Fil-Am Willy Santos will hold a Mini Ramp Jam at the event. Hawk, the son of skating legend Tony Hawk, started with the sport at an early age and was already pulling tricks that skaters his father's age were having trouble doing.

Subic-born Santos, meanwhile, was one of the first skaters that the elder Hawk chose to be part of his skateboarding team Birdhouse Skateboards.

9 international music acts

And because skating and music are tied together like conjoined twins, Circuit Fest will feature performances from international acts Yellowcard, Mayday Parade, We Are The In Crowd, The Downtown Friction, The Downtown Friction, This Century, Allstar Weekend, A+ Dropouts, Before You Exit, and Megan Nicole.

According to Before You Exit's Connor McDonough, it's the energy inherent in both skating and music that makes the two elements fit together. “It's the energy, that young vibe.” An interesting anecdote: bandmate and brother Riley used to skate, until an injury made him quit the sport altogether.

“But Circuit Fest should be fun,” Riley adds.

“It's gonna be an amazing show,” says Yellowcard's Ryan Key. “We would love to see you guys there.”

Mark Salling of ‘Glee’ hosts

Hosting the Circuit Fest is American TV star and skating enthusiast Mark Salling, more known as “Puck” from the hit show “Glee.”

“I am very much excited to go back to the Philippines,” says Salling. If readers may recall, the actor already visited the Philippines once before, for a Boracay jaunt. The event gives Salling's fans an opportunity to see him on a more public setting.

The event is presented by Circuit Makati in pertnership with Music Management International. For details, check out CircuitFest.com.
