Netflix backs Dr. Seuss's 'Green Eggs and Ham'

Netflix has signed on for yet another landmark project -- bringing Dr. Seuss's famous creation "Green Eggs and Ham" to life.

The deal, brokered with Warner Bros. TV Group, will come to fruition with the help of executive producer and well-known talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

The plan is to adapt the classic 1960 children's book into a 13-episode animated TV series which will feature the continuing adventures of some of its characters.

While the exact release date is not yet known, Netflix confirmed that it would hit Netflix globally in Netflix "with a whole new look."

The company added: 'In this richly animated production, a 13-episode introduction, standoffish inventor (Guy, by name) and Sam-I-Am of worldwide fame, embark on a cross-country trip that tests the limits of their friendship. As they learn to try new things, they find out what adventure brings. Of course they also get to eat that famous green and tasty treat!'

Jared Stern ("The Lego Movie Sequel"), will also serve as executive producer alongside DeGeneres, in addition to Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz and David Dobkin.
