Nikki not yet ready to settle down

Nikki Gil admitted she’s not ready to settle down, even if she sees herself marrying boyfriend of four years Billy Crawford someday.

The 24-year-old actress explained she still has to grow emotionally and strengthen their relationship even more.

“Right now, no. I’m not (yet ready). Emotionally, I know I have a lot of growing up to do. Our relationship needs a lot of work and sa ngayon, hindi pa. But I see it as a possibility,” Nikki said in an interview at the press conference for her new endorsement Bioessence at Little Asia, Quezon City on Thursday, March 8. Nikki was joined by fellow endorser Iya Villania.

Now that Billy is preparing for his trip to Europe, Nikki added they are readying themselves for a long-distance relationship.

“I’m praying na doon (marriage) kami makarating. Nakikita ko naman na we’re working towards that. Kung hindi ko naman nakikita iyon (herself marrying Billy,) I wouldn’t be with him right now,” she said.

Nikki shared that it is  Billy who is prepared to settle down. And the fact that she’s younger than Billy could be the reason why Nikki feels she’s not yet ready to get hitched.

“He says na he’s ready. Ang lalaki kapag sinasabi na handa na sila, handa na sila. But I know that he has some other things to work on, siguro financial stability, syempre kailangan practical na tayo ngayon,” she explained.

Billy was supposed to go to Europe last January to revive his international career. But showbiz commitments made him postpone the trip. Nikki revealed Billy already has a plane ticket bound for a trip to Europe in April, but anything can still happen.

How is Nikki preparing for a long-distance relationship with Billy?

“We’re working on our relationship in terms of trust. Binibuild namin yung foundation na iyon para kapag umalis siya, hindi na iyon magiging issue. Kaya we try to spend as much time with each other dahil alam naming we won’t be able to do that when he leaves,” she replied.

Secret to a quiet relationship

Nikki and Billy have managed to maintain a quiet, intrigue-free relationship even if they have been together for a long time. Nikki thinks this is because they only share to others  what they deem is right and keep the rest to themselves.

“There are some things we don’t discuss because they don’t need to be discussed and there are things we share to other people. It’s learning to find that balance between privacy and sharing with your audience your personal life,” she said.

Nikki shared that they have matured in their relationship. Billy is teaching her how to become an adult, while she is showing him how to be more serious in decision-making.

“Billy has taught me to become an adult. People think I’m mature for my age, pero hindi. I’m really isip-bata, alam ni Billy yan. He has helped me overcome that.”

Effective contrabida

Nikki is also happy to note that she gets a lot of positive feedback instead of hate comments for her contrabida role in the TV drama "Mundo Man ay Magunaw."

“I think yung mga audiences natin ngayon are much smarter. Because they’re able to distinguish a role from reality," she said.

The Kapamilya actress further said, "Alam nila, they will tweet na ‘Nakakainis yung role mo,’ not me as a person. I haven’t really received na personal attacks na, ‘You’re so evil, maldita ka'."
