The first trailer for the highly anticipated documentary about iconic songtress Nina Simone is finally out with a premiere date set for next month.

The film, titled "What Happened Miss Simone?," premiered for select audiences at Sundance earlier this year and is set for a first public release on Netflix on June 26, according to Rolling Stone.

The two-minute clip, which is composed of interview voiceovers with her daughter Lisa and rare archival footage of the "high priestess of soul" herself, gives an insight into the story of her incredible music career, her work as a fierce political activist and her ultimate downfall when -- as her daughter describes it -- "everything fell apart."

The film was helmed by Academy Award-nominated director Liz Garbus, known for her work on "Bobby Fischer Against the World," "Killing in the Name" and "Love, Marilyn."
