No 'promo-promo' for Gerald

"Promo-promo,"  or candy-coated descriptions of a person, TV show or movie is the new buzz-phrase in tinseltown. In the case of a love team, it could be a pretend admiration for the tandem’s respective partners and an implied off-cam romance.

But Gerald Anderson refuses to play the promo-promo game. He would rather be truthful.

His successful team-up with Sarah Geronimo in the movie "Catch Me I'm in Love" sparked rumors that Gerald’s latest leading lady is also his latest love interest.  Gerald has denied this in past interviews about Sarah.

With "Won't Last a Day Without You," their follow-up movie under Star Cinema, questions again arose whether Gerald is courting Sarah or even if they are already in a relationship. Gerald again said no.

Even during his live interview with Boy Abunda in "Bandila," Gerald said he wasn't in any relationship. Asked who he would like to be with if it's the last day of the world, Gerald said he just wants to be alone to thank God. No "promo-promo" for him just so he could sell more tickets to "Won't Last a Day Without You," when it opens on Nov. 30.

Gerald is also thankful for the continuous support of Kimerald, the fan's club of his love team with former girlfriend Kim Chiu.

The film's director Raz dela Torre added that "Won't Last a Day Without You" showcases a different Sarah and Gerald.

"I'm very lucky that they allowed us to create a different story from its very successful predecessor which is 'Catch Me I'm In Love.' It allowed us to explore something na pwede pa naming ma-hugot sa mga actors namin and they delivered. Nakakatuwang makita in a romantic comedy na we're mostly expecting kilig, this time around you get to see them actually deliver a very nice story that you can learn from," he explained.

Girlfriend matters

Does Gerald miss having a girlfriend?

"Ang tagal ko na ring walang girlfriend, kahit papaano nakaka-miss yung text-text at mga yakap-yakap. Siguro dahan-dahan lang. Kung mangyayari, mangyayari," he replied.

Gerald would rather focus on his work rather than on finding a new girlfriend. Gerald plays the lead role in ABS-CBN’s popular primetimes show, "Budoy."
