Only on OMG! - Jessica Sanchez's newfound freedom

GLEE: AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 runner up Jessica Sanchez guest stars in the "Lights Out" episode of GLEE ©2013 Fox Broadcasting Co.

Jessica Sanchez is so positive she doesn’t mope around when things fall apart.

For instance, the 17-year-old Jessica describes herself as “happily single,” now that she and DeAndre Brackensick have broken up. No ranting, no tears. Just a smile that says everything is okay.

“I  try not to think about negative things. Be positive all the time. That’s why I have this smile on my face,” she tells Yahoo! Philippines OMG!

That’s also her advice to fellow teens  going through sensitive changes in their life.

“Try to have fun!” she urges.

Moving on

The “American Idol” first runner-up appears in two episodes of the  TV musical “Glee.”

As Frida Romero, Jessica gets to sink her teeth into the role of a  powerhouse singer in a rival glee club.

She reveals, there’s a little of Jessica in Frida.

“Frida is sweet. When she gets into competition, she puts her mind into it. That’s the similarity.”

But it ends there. Frida, observes Jessica, is “very full.”

By very full, Jessica refers to Frida’s very vocal character.

“She’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind.”

But Jessica knows the line separating frankness from tact.  That way,  she’s  different from Frida.

It must also be the Filipino in her.  Jessica’s mom Editha must have taught her daughter the value of not hurting people’s feelings  – aside from the usual fondness for adobo and Pinoy cuisine.

Add to that the presence of her Filipina grandmother, who is in extended stay with the family in the US, and you’ve got a very Asian upbringing for Jessica.

This will come in handy, now that Jessica has her hands full. Her  album,“Me, You and the Music,” will be out the Philippines by May 14.

She is slated to perform for the second time with Enrique Iglesias in  New York.  Jessica will return to the Philippines “for a short time” to do some work, the nature of which she’d rather keep to herself for now.

The hectic pace keeps Jessica from fulfilling “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy’s wish for her to appear for a longer period in the said show.

“I had so much fun! The  whole cast was amazing!” gushes  Jessica.   She can’t stop thanking her lucky stars for the opportunities “Glee” gave her.

“Everybody (in the cast) told me not to worry. They said I’m doing well,” recalls Jessica.

Meantime, Jessica has a message to Filipino fans.

“I love you guys so much!”

Needless to say, the feeling is mutual.

(Glee Season 4 airs every Friday via satellite at 4 p.m.with a primetime telecast at 8 p.m.on  JackTV and ETC)
