Padillas hailed Celebrity Family of the Year #YahooAwards
The Padilla clan, made up of Daniel, Robin, BB Gandanghari, Mariel Rodriguez, among others, romped away with the Celebrity Family of the Year award at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 at the MOA Arena Friday.
A total of 238,905 votes sealed the Padillas’ sweet victory, with the Magolonas coming in second (74,863 votes), the Gutierrezes, third (47,157 votes), the Barrettos, fourth (31, 948 votes) and the Eigenmanns fifth (12,513 votes).
Flag bearer
The Padilla name continues to shine bright in the showbiz scene, especially now that its youngest celebrity member, Daniel Padilla, 19, is making girls swoon and scream their lungs out.
Even Daniel’s uncle Robin Padilla (brother of the teen actor’s father Rommel) admits his young nephew is now the family flag bearer in showbiz.
Robin’s contribution must not be ignored, of course. The former Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema has a Best Actor award from the Metro Manila Film Festival (for the movie "10,000 Hours”) and is a producer and director at the same time. The outspoken Robin is also known for his anti-malaria advocacy and his strong political beliefs.
Solid
The Padillas are so solid, they starred in the film “Sa Ngalan Ng Ama, Ina, At Mga Anak.” Robin is also producing two films for his brother BB, whose transgender identity the family, headed by their mom Eva Carino, has fully embraced.
TV5 is banking on the Padillas’ star power and is coming up with a sitcom featuring the entire family.
Yahoo Philippines came up with the Celebrity Family of the Year award for the first time as tribute to generations of actors and actresses who have livened up, and continue to add sparkle in the showbiz scene.
