Paolo Bediones thinks sex video scandal is a blessing in disguise

Paolo Bediones put up a restaurant while on leave as TV5 news anchor

Paolo Bediones is slowly picking up the pieces after that sex video scandal that threatened to tear his world apart.

He mingles with the media who came to the presscon of TV5’s “The Amazing Race Philippines Season 2” and smiles for the camera. The venue is Puñta Restaurant at Liberty Center along Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong, which Paolo himself owns.

Things happen

“Ito ang therapy ko nung nawala ako sa news (because of the controversy; he has since returned),” he relates. “Blessing in disguise ang nangyari. Everything happens for a reason. Hindi ko sinasabing ito ang dahilan (kung bakit lumabas ang video). At least may magandang kinalabasan. Things happen.”

Too bad authorities haven’t caught the one who uploaded the video. But Paolo is not giving up. He’s even taking his search for the mastermind to the next level.

Paolo is making it his lifetime advocacy to make promoters of sex videos pay for their sins. That’s because Paolo believes he’s in the best position to champion the cause of unsuspecting victims like himself.

“Ako ang may boses. Ako ang pwedeng lumaban. Yon ang magiging advocacy ko for the rest of my life, to make sure these things don’t happen to people again, na wala nang ibang mabiktima.”

Learnings

Paolo has emerged from the ordeal a better person because he has learned his lesson.

“I learned to be more careful and to appreciate yung mga taong malalapit sa ‘yo.”

Thanks to these loyal friends and supporters, Paolo licked his wounds and moved on, but not after he felt the world crumbling around him the first 2 weeks after the sex video went viral.

Paolo now wants to show others with big problems that they, too, can get over it, that not everything is lost.

Taking it

“I want to show na kahit anong problema mangyari sa buhay mo, you must be able to take it.”

Paolo himself is due to return TV5 morning news on Monday, November 3 and continues to be one of the network's managers.

Life goes on. And Paolo the businessman is glad he has more things to look forward to.
