Papa Jack, DJ Cha Cha top Radio DJ race at #Yahoo Awards
They perk up the airwaves with witty punch lines, their engaging spiels and familiar voices. Now, the fans have rewarded Love Radio’s Papa Jack and MOR 101. 9 DJ Cha Cha with the titles Male DJ of the Year and Female DJ of the Year.
It is Papa Jack’s third time to bag the award, while it is DJ Cha Cha’s first time to get the coveted trophy from Yahoo Philippines.
Love guru
Papa Jack, known for his no-holds-barred style as a ‘love guru’ on air, got an impressive 183,822 votes, proving that he is undisputed King of the FM airwaves. His fellow Love Radio DJ, the equally irreverent Chris Tsuper, came in second with 111,129 votes. Magic 89.9’s solid trio, Sam YG, Slick Rick and Tony Toni of Boys Night Out, came in third with 13,131 votes, followed by RX 93.1’s Chico Garcia (11,406 votes) and Energy FM 106.7’s Mr Fu (9,800 votes).
DJ Cha Cha ended up with 314,809 votes after a hotly-contested fight with Love Radio’s Nicole Hyala, who came in second with 299,051 votes. RX93.1’s Delamar, placed third with 14,195 votes, followed by Magic 89.9’s Sam Oh (6,144 votes) and 93.9 iFM’s DJ Megan (4,607 votes).
The Yahoo Celebrity 2014 Awards garnered over 17 million fan votes, more than double than last year’s count.
