PewDiePie prepares to join ranks of YouTubers with their own games

"PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist" is expected mid-year in 2015

After Felix Kjellberg, aka popular YouTuber PewDiePie, announced that he will feature in his own PC and mobile app, we look at a number of other online personalities who have gone on to star in their own video games.

Felix Kjellberg - PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist (iOS, Android)
Lending his likeness and expressions to this second title from Montreal's Outerminds, YouTube king PewDiePie revealed a new slice of gameplay that has him leaping through a variety of environments -- a North Pole level was shown off -- with power-ups to collect, characters to unlock, and sharks to rescue.

James Rofle - The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (Wii U, Windows PC)
Known for his acerbic takedowns of bad old games, Rolfe's video game conversion not only aped retro games but also integrated some of Rolfe's biggest gaming gripes. Half a dozen fan-made games also carry the AVGN name.

Jordan Maron - Fortress Fury (iOS, Android)
YouTube's CaptainSparklez has teamed up with industry vet Howard Marks (Acclaim, Activision) for this in-beta construction and demolition game, in which players design and build their own bases, then knock their opponents to smithereens in search of a camouflaged core brick.

Toby Turner - Tobuscus Adventures: Wizards (iOS, Android, Windows PC)

Lewis Brendley, Simon Lane - Yogscast and The Mystical Dream Tower (Mac, Windows PC)
Where one official Game of the YouTube Channel failed in crowd-funded "Yogventures," another rose to take on the mantle, as well as official support. It's a step away from the 'cast's usual obsession with "Minecraft," being a 2D game instead, but holds the promise of a level creation suite for creative players to get stuck into. iOS and Android versions are anticipated.
