Plastic surgery: who's doing what and where

When it comes to plastic surgery, Americans dominate: according to the latest figures: the US represents 45 percent of the world market, followed by Brazil. Top procedures: breast augmentations and Botox.

On Thursday in Paris, the IMCAS, a congress dedicated to plastic surgeons and dermatologists, opened its doors to its annual meeting and, in conjunction with the event, it has released the latest market report.

Other countries topping the global charts for plastic surgery procedures are China, Japan, and Mexico. Italy ranks as Europe's biggest plastic surgery market, followed by France and Germany.

Top procedures performed in the US, Brazil, China, Japan, and Mexico include liposuction, breast augmentations, eyelid lifts, tummy tucks, and rhinosplasty.

In Europe, the top procedures in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and Russia include breast augmentations, liposuction, eyelid lifts, rhinoplasty, and breast lifts.

The most popular noninvasive procedures around the globe include Botox, dermal fillers such as Restylane, laser hair removal, fat injections, and IPL laser treatments for red patches and dark spots.
