Posture-correcting shoes in the works

Feel like fidgeting? Go for it, because fidgeting could save you from the adverse health effects of sitting, according to a new study

A combination of tactile sensor and LED lights help correct walking posture by measuring the pressure on different parts of the sole with smart shoes unveiled Wednesday by the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS).

Correct weight distribution -- which involves an even range from heel to toe -- causes the LEDs to light up, however, poor walking posture would illuminate a limited number of the three LEDs on each shoe, according to Who Wired, who spotted the story.

The shoes connect to your mobile device by means of a corresponding app, and the research team, led by Dr. Kim Jong-ho, told Who Wired they have seven patents pending that pertain to the technology and plans to commercialize the shoes.

The app also doubles as a step tracker.
