Psy Hits One Billion views for ‘Gangnam Style’ MV
Psy has achieved 1,000,000,000 views,
Making 2012 his year, Psy has set up a new record.
After being released on July 15, Psy’s Gangnam Style has hit 1 billion views on Youtube for the first time in Youtube history at around 3:50 PM (GMT).
Just on November 24, the Gangnam Style MV has received 800 million views, becoming the number one most viewed video, pushing Justin Bieber’s Baby out of the spot. Psy has done what Justin Bieber has done in 33 months in just 4.
After just 19 days since its first release, the music video was already at 10 million views on August 2.
Going into September, the number has now gone into the hundred millions, and by September 4, was already at 200 million. On September 28, it hit 300 million.
On October 20, it rose to third most viewed, passing Eminem’s Love the Way You Lie, and 12 days later, it went up again on November 2, pushing Jennifer Lopez’s on the Floor out of the way. By November 11, it was at 700 million.
Not only that, Gangnam Style was in second place for seven consecutive weeks on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ single chart.
This popularity continues through music ceremonies all around the world. Psy managed to win Best Video at MTV’s EMA and the New Media Award at the AMA. Psy also had the opportunity to perform with world renowned singers, such as MC Hammer and Madonna.
