Putting a new Spin on surf and skate simulation

Brazil-based Moramii Fitness has unveiled Spin, which, unlike many products of its kind designed for the fitness aspect of balance, is designed to train sports moves in the domains of surfing and skating, including complicated freestyle moves.

The board sits on a rotating disc, which makes it possible to practice a variety of difficult jumps and spins.

Its inflatable round base provides 360 degrees of instability and its shape offers approximately the same foot positioning as users would have while doing the real thing.

Pilates moves and total body fitness are possible in addition to posture correction and stability training, for a variety of squats, abdominal moves and instability push-ups.

The product is to launch this fall, for 990 Brazilian reis, approximately $422 or €326 and international shipping is possible.

Surf and skate stimulators often come in the form of cylindrical rolling boards, which don't provide 360 degrees of instability. Others are for use with the actual surfboard which is impractical during the winter months. Round balance boards are more oriented towards Pilates training and don't offer adapted foot placement.

Finding the right surf and skate simulator can be tricky, although we found Indo Board which offers a variety of products, including a balance board that comes with a separate inflatable cushion for winter shinnying sessions. $139.95.
