Ramon Bautista’s ‘hipon’ remark took a toll on the comedian as he was declared ‘persona non grata’ by Davao City.

“Persona non grata” means an "unwanted person."

In a resolution, the city council said Ramon, as a visitor, should have practiced decency. It also condemns Ramon’s Instagram photo of himself with three young girls who attended the event because of “his insinuations that the young women are lusting for popularity.”

The resolution also states that the Women Development Code of Davao City finds Ramon’s actions as a form of sexual harassment. The city council added that Ramon is “an extremely corrupt influence to the youth and his abusive behavior should not be tolerated.”

Earlier, Davao City officials, including former Mayor Sara Duterte and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, found Ramon’s ‘hipon’ remark, referring to people of Davao during his guesting in Kadayawan Festival on Saturday, August 16, as offensive. ‘Hipon’ is a slang for a person with good body but an unattractive face.

Ramon apologized on stage “after he was told by Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte.”

“I'm here in front of you to say my apologies because sinabi ko ang daming hipon dito. Oo nga, nahihiya po ako sa inyo because you welcomed me in your beautiful city. I'll say my sincerest apologies, sana po matanggap niyo. From the bottom of my heart, sobrang nahihiya po ako sa inyong lahat.  Sana mapatawad niyo po ako. Mahal ko po kayong lahat," he said,  according to a video posted by some netizens.

Ramon also posted an apology on his Instagram account. Admitting his mistake, Ramon said that he will accept whatever consequence he will face.
