MANILA, Philippines - It didn't take long for Rayver Cruz to find the strength to move on following the dissolution of his relationship with controversial actress Cristine Reyes.

According to Cruz, he can now only love Reyes as a "friend."

"Hindi naman magbabago 'yung samahan namin, magkaibigan pa rin kami...Mahal ko siya bilang kaibigan," he told Push.com. in a recent interview.

But Cruz didn't hesitate to reveal that he didn't give his beloved friend a gift on her birthday, Feb 5.

"Binati ko siya sa birthday niya. Okay na 'yon, di kailangan laging may regalo," said he.

The actor believes they both made the right decision to part ways, confessing that he is in a happy place right now.

Cristine Reyes (NPPA Images)"Mas okay na 'yung ganon. Happy pa rin naman kami sa mga buhay namin," Cruz said.

Prior, not a few wags wondered aloud if the breakup would make things awkard between them on the set of the series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin."

"Okay naman kami. Wala namang nagbabago," he said, adding, "Minsan nagkaka-text kami tapos siyempre nagkikita kami minsan kasi neighbors na kami, eh. Ang lapit na lang ng bahay namin sa [bahay nila], mga 10-15 minutes. Malapit so magkikita-kita kayo do'n. Ang liit lang ng Parañaque."

Cruz and Reyes became a couple in 2010. Rumors about them having broken up emerged late last year but they repeatedly denied it. They eventually admitted to the disintegration of their union only in January.
