The spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak.

Regine Velasquez had to cut short her silver anniversary concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last Friday, Nov. 16, because she lost her voice due to a viral infection.

Her husband, Ogie Alcasid, a guest in the concert, posted this message on Facebook: “I have always been proud of my wife, but last night, she showed what kind of performer she is. With absolutely, no voice, she let her heart and soul sing instead. With every cracked note, people applauded and were wowed.   They never left, never booed, they just cheered her on. My wife just believed that no matter what, God would be there for her.”

KC Montero further lauded Regine (KC Montero‏@KCMontero@reginevalcasid): “ you showed strength and courage last night. I salute you.”

Regine posted her appreciation for the support by tweeting:

Among those who went on stage to help Regine out were Lani Misalucha,  Vice Ganda and Anton Diva.

To make up for  the incident, Regine promised a free repeat show whose date will be announced later.
