Report: Apple reinventing the remote control for next Apple TV

Will football supporters soon be able to vote via smartphone for the player they want substituted during a match?

New set-top box will boast a touchpad controller for better navigation.

According to The New York Times, the new controller will feature just two buttons to ensure it retains Apple's philosophy for simplicity and ease of use and is expected to make its debut, alongside the new Apple TV that it will control, at the company's WWDC conference in June.

As well as a new method of navigation, the 2015 Apple TV set-top box is also tipped to feature voice commands, Siri personal assistant integration, its own suite of apps and, crucially a new cord-cutting, internet-based subscription TV service.
