Rhian Ramos is proud to say American Christian band Jars of Clay’s music video is 100 percent Filipino made.

She added that the video, titled “Fall Asleep,” is directed by her friend Luigi Tabuena and is shot entirely in the Philippines by an all-Filipino crew.

Rhian herself is featured in the video.

“It just goes to show kung ano yung kaya rin nating mga Pinoy. Hopefully, it opens doors and artists can see that we can make a good product even if it is shot here. Even if you can get a local crew, you can make a really good product,” Rhian said at the press launch of Toyota Vios Cup in Midas Hotel on Friday, September 20.

She also hopes that “Fall Asleep,” will help Filipinos by bringing more work, “in terms of filmmaking, at least.”

Luck and connections

She shared that it took “a lot of swerte and connections” to star in the music
video.

When Jars of Clay went to Manila for a concert last Holy Week, Luigi pitched the music video concept and the band liked it.

Rhian wasn’t able to meet the band personally because of schedule problems, but they communicated via social media.

“The only time I got to talk to them was on Twitter when we tweet each other now that we’re so happy about the video.”

Rhian feels glad the music video has been getting good feedback and has been featured in USA Today.

“For everyone naman, it’s always a goal to keep advancing or get a larger audience. So it would be nice. Pero hindi naman talaga ako umaasa. I’m just happy to have done it.”

Yes, she can

Rhian will join the Toyota Vios Cup set at Clark International Speedway on October 12 together with Aljur Abrenica, Phoemela Barranda and Fabio Ide.

“Noong una, aaminin ko, kinabahan ako. But now that I’ve done a bit of training, hindi na. I want to prove the stereotype wrong, kasi minsan iniisip ng tao na porke’t babae hindi marunong mag-drive. Hindi iyon totoo,” Rhian said.
