Roy Kim and DickPunks release final songs from ′SSK4′

Roy Kim and DickPunks′ last batch of songs performed for Mnet′s Superstar K4 were released on November 27.

Roy Kim′s Passing By and DickPunks′ Playing Something Memorable and Butterfly were the singles released this day in new studio-recorded versions.

Passing By is a song Roy Kim wrote while he was studying abroad.

He was inspired to write the song when a friend showed he was depressed after his breakup, after he got back a necklace he had given as a present to his girlfriend. The lyrics at the beginning express the sadness of separation, but in the end they turn into a message of hope for everyone.

Playing Something Memorable is originally a song by Kim Gwang Jin, and was rearranged by DickPunks into a brighter style that expresses the band′s wish to live joyously.

Butterfly is the band′s first self-produced ballad single, and was composed by keyboardist Kim Hyun Woo and lyricized by vocalist Kim Tae Hyun. The song contains the sadness of love, and especially stands out with a bit where the members seem to pound down on their instruments. The new recording is expected to retain the original emotions of the song.

Roy Kim′s Whose Life is This For will not be released this time around in order to keep his voice in top condition.

A rep from CJ E&M told enews on November 27, "Because Roy Kim had performed passionately in his last show, recording two songs would′ve been a strain. After talking the issue over, we decided that he should take care of his voice, then record the song later after performing at MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)."

Whose Life is This For, as well as other unreleased singles, will be released with the Superstar K4 Top 12 album scheduled for December.

The top 12 of Superstar K4, including the winner Roy Kim and runner-up DickPunks, are currently preparing for the Superstar K4 Top 12 Concert, which will take place from December 20, as well as the Superstar K4 Top 12 album. Kim Jung Hwan will not be participating in the concert due to his military duties.

Roy Kim will start working on his debut album after performing at 2012 MAMA, to be held on November 30.
