Ruffa: Love not a priority

Although she admits to going out on dates, love is not a priority right now for Kapatid actress-host Ruffa Gutierrez.

“I’m single and happy. Walang sakit sa ulo. I’m happy being single,” she said during the press conference for TV5’s “Sugod mga Kapatid sa Sinulog 2012” event last week in Cebu City.

Ruffa added, “When I listen to all my girlfriends that are crying, and they have all these bad experiences with their boyfriend, hay naku, I’m just happy I’m alone. It’s a choice. Of course I meet people, I go out on dates. But for me to really spend time with them and sila ang priority ko, it’s not.”

The “Paparazzi: Showbiz Exposed” co-host said that instead of pursuing a romantic relationship, she’d rather focus on her family and her career this year.

“A relationship right now will be second or third priority anyway because I have my kids and my work,” she said.

“Ang prayer ko nga this year sana di ako ma-distract. Last year, di ako na-distract masyado,” she said. “When I read the papers, it’s sometimes blown out of proportion what happened last year. It’s a thing of the past. It didn’t affect me. Akala ng tao ang laki-laking problema na. For me, it’s not a problem.”

Ruffa has two daughters with Turkish businessman Yilmaz Bektas, Lorraine and Venice.

Peg for a man

But if she does consider entering into a relationship again, what will he look for in a man?

According to the “Glamorosa” star, her “peg has changed” when it comes to her preference in men.

“Ang importante is (he is) really a God-fearing individual. For you to really last in a relationship, you need God in your life and you need to have the same values and the same beliefs,” she explained. “If you don’t pray together and you have that set of values, mawawala rin yan e kasi there’s temptation. And it’s hard these days because temptation is so rampant.”

“(Pero) syempre, you have to be attractive to the person. Hindi naman pwedeng ipikit mo na lang mata mo. Kailangan naman may attraction,” she quipped.

Ruffa looks up to celebrity couple Maricel and Anthony Pangilinan as her inspiration when it comes to relationships.

“They do everything together as a family. Makikita mo talaga put to now na they love each other so much,” she said.

The Kapatid star added, “I want my husband and I or my lifetime partner to be like that, na we’re a team, we’re best friend, na we’ll really commit into spending our lives together.”

Does her mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, have a say on the man she dates or will date?

“More than her, I’d think of my kids. I have to make sure that person I’m gonna be with one day will really love my kids as if they were his own,” Ruffa explained.
