Ruffa to John Lloyd: Be a man in the true sense of the word

After weeks of glossing over her reported involvement in the John Lloyd Cruz-Shaina Magdayao relationship, Ruffa Gutierrez showed text messages and revealed other bits of information to clear her name in the issue.

In her tell-all interview with “Paparazzi” co-host Mo Twister before she left for Dubai, Ruffa said that she was shocked when Shaina told host Boy Abunda in “The Buzz” that it was her (Ruffa) who started sending text messages to John Lloyd.

“Prove it to the public,” Ruffa dared Shaina.  Ruffa added that she did not erase text messages that can prove that the allegations against her are false.

She received the one that hurt her the most after the birthday concert of Shaina’s sister Vina Morales at Republiq Club in The Fort last Oct. 17.

“Pinakana-bother ako was when (I got the message)   “F-----g stay the hell away from us.”

“How dare you say stay away from us, when wala naman akong ginagawa? So yon ang pinakamasakit na pinapalabas nila, hanggang ngayon naghahabol ako. First of all, walang kailangan habulin. Kanyang kanya na si John Lloyd,” says Ruffa.

According to her, the first text message that appeared in her cell phone at 1:33 a.m. after Vina’s concert was “shut up.” The number that registered on her phone was John Lloyd’s.

Ruffa thought the message was directed at her and her friends who were having fun at that time.

But she doubted whether it was John Lloyd himself who sent the message.

“After all the curse messages that I got, hindi si John Lloyd yon.  Kasi John Lloyd never sent me messages na nagmumura. The person sending me messages kept calling me Sharmaine (Ruffa’s complete name is Sharmaine Ruffa Gutierrez). Hindi naman Sharmaine ang tawagan namin (ni John Lloyd),” Ruffa notes.

An incident that happened 15 minutes before she got the first text message confirmed Ruffa’s doubts.

“There was a slight commotion towards the right part of the room,” she recounts. “Pagtingin ko at pagtingin ng pinsan ko, there was John Lloyd na dinadala sa labas ng Republiq.  There were bouncers, there was John Lloyd and Shaina was also there.   Nakita naming tulog na siya (John Lloyd). Ibig sabihin lasing na lasing  na siya.”

Ruffa knows her former boyfriend enough to say that John Lloyd is drunk when he gets carried out of the club.

“Having spent some time with John Lloyd, I know na kapag binubuhat siya sa labas ng club, tulog siya and he doesn’t wake up until the following day.

“So sino ang padaldalhan ko ng message, multo?” Ruffa retorts.

The day after, at 9:16 a.m., Ruffa says she got a text from an apologetic John Lloyd.

“Can you take a call? I’m really sorry about last night. Di kita dapat dinamay sa problema ko. I hope you can give me a chance to fix this.  I’m really sorry . Please give me a chance …. sad face,”  the text message said.

Ruffa said she replied with “Please call me …. sad face.”

Ruffa thought that was the end of the story.  So she was shocked when she saw John Lloyd and Shaina’s  interview  on “The Buzz.”

“When I look back at the past, ako nga yung sinabotahe nila. I’m inspired right now with someone else.  And just like I was loyal to John Lloyd the last time, I‘m also loyal to that person.

Ruffa understands where John Lloyd and Shaina are coming from.

“I know their aim is to clear both their names,” she said in the interview. “Siyempre there is this big management firm that’s behind them. I did speak to Tita Mariole  (Alberto, one of the bosses at Star Magic)  and she said, ‘Be kind.’   I must say, pasensiya na Tita Mariole, pero di sila naging kind sa akin kaya ako nandito.”

For her parting shot, Ruffa gave a message to John Lloyd and Shaina.

She told John Lloyd on air: “Thank you for clearing my name in this issue. Kagaya ng sinabi ko noon say ‘yo, I’ll be the happiest person pag talaga naging lalaking lalaki ka in the true sense of the word.”

Ruffa has this to say to Shaina: “You have nothing to worry about. I’m really sad that you thought I was disrespecting your relationship.  But that’s not the case. And tell the truth next time because you know and I know and John Lloyd and everyone know that I was not the first to text.  I hope after this interview, huwag ka nang magsalita.”

But if Shaina does react, Ruffa dares her, “Ilabas mo ang cell phone ni John Lloyd …  Kasi alam ko sa sarli ko na wala akong tine-text.”

Ruffa admits she made a lot of mistakes in her life when she was younger.  But she’s more mature, thanks to her daughters, Venice and Lorin.

She ended the interview with the words “Malinis ang kunsensya ko, malinis ang intensyon ko.”
