“Mirabella” star Julia Barretto was surprised when she learned about the rumor that she and Sam Concepcion,  Jasmine Curtis’ boyfriend, are having a romance.

At the press launch of Bench’s Whitening Lotion on Friday, April 4, Julia clarified that Sam,  her co-star in “Mirabella”  is like her big brother.

“Nakatrabaho ko siya when I was nine years old, sa “Walang Kapalit.” Growing up, I’ve always seen him as my kuya,” Julia told the press.

She also dismissed  any possibility of having a romance  with Sam.

“It’s showbiz  pero nakakatawa kasi kuya talaga ang tingin ko sa kanya, so parang hindi.”

The ‘confrontation’

It will be recalled that Jasmine’s older sister Anne Curtis allegedly confronted Sam in Vice Ganda’s party last March 31 and according to Philippine Entertainment Portal, said, ‘Ba’t mo niloloko ang kapatid ko?’

Anne, on the other hand, claimed that she just told Sam to take care of her sister.

The teen actress admits she and Sam haven’t talked about the issue yet because they haven’t taped for “Mirabella.”

“We’ll resume pa after Holy Week. Not yet. Siguro what happened was just so fresh, kung gusto niyang pag-usapan, pag-uusapan. Hindi ko talaga alam na may ganoong issue.”

Julia is not on the lookout for love right now, because she is focused on her career. Her debut teleserye “Mirabella” was just recently launched.

Supportive cousin

She feels proud  of cousin Dominique Cojuangco, the newest endorser of Bench Whitening Lotion. If ever Dominique decides to enter showbiz, Julia advises her to practice speaking Filipino first.

“I’ve always seen her as a model. I always wanted her to get into this kind of stuff. I expect her na she’s doing great. Showbiz is a crazy world. So she also got to think twice about it also (if she enters showbiz).”
