Ryanair least popular airline in Europe

The budget airline from Ireland is criticized by travelers for the low quality of its services, according to a survey conducted by Travelzoo. Rather unsurprisingly, Europeans tend to favor their national carriers.

Among respondents, 22 percent of the French, 38 percent of the Germans, 48 percent of the Brits and 56 percent of the Spaniards admitted that Ryanair was the airline they liked the least.

Conversely, the respondents' favorite carriers showed a nationalistic bias, since 22 percent of the French went for Air France, 30 percent of the Germans favored Lufthansa, 21 percent of the Brits opted for British Airways, and 16 percent of the Spanish selected Iberia.

Respondents mentioned comfort, price transparency and amenities on board to justify their choices, according to Travelzoo.

The survey was conducted online in October 2012 among 5,360 Travelzoo subscribers.
