Sarah Geronimo nominated in 2014 MTV European Music Awards
Sarah Geronimo has just been nominated as Best Southeast Asia Act in the 2014 MTV European Music Awards.
The nomination, revealed Tuesday, September 16, sees Sarah going up against 6 other acts from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.
Indonesia has two bets under the same category, with Agnez Mo winning the “wild card” nomination by fan vote.
Up Dharma Down was in the running, too
Local indie band Up Dharma Down also campaigned for the sixth “wild card” slot.
On Tuesday, the band thanked those who voted for them and expressed surprise at the level of support they got.
On the last voting day alone, they said on their Facebook page, “we had over a hundred thousand votes, with people signing up on Twitter just to show us how the music has touched them.”
MTV EMA said that the fan vote for the “wild card” slot “saw a staggering 19 million votes flood in from around the world.”

As for the actual award, fans can vote for the Best Southeast Asia Act until 5:59 am of October 23, 2014 only.

Awards night
The awards night will be held at The Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland on November 9.
It will be broadcast live on all MTV channels worldwide. In Manila, the show will air on November 10 at 4:00 am.
Some of the biggest names in pop are going head to head this year in 16 categories, including tabloid rivals Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea.
