Sarah’s suitors must first win her parents’ heart

The question always asked of Sarah Geronimo is whether she welcomes being courted by celebrities being linked to her, like Gerald Anderson and Kean Cipriano.

Sarah wasn't surprised when she was asked the same question during a videoke night with friends from media and her Jollibee family last Thursday night at Red Box in Eastwood Mall.

Her reaction was to throw back the question to would-be suitors.

"Are they open? Are they willing?" she asked, amused.

What Sarah meant was that she wants to find out if  suitors are  willing to wait and be open to the idea of courting her parents first. Her parents are apparently old school when it comes to romance. The only way to win Sarah's heart is not through texting, Facebook,  Twitter or even YM. It’s by going traditional: winning her parents’ nod  first by visiting her at home.

"Bibilib talaga ako kung sino mang manliligaw will be brave enough na ligawan ang parents ko muna. Yun ang hinihintay ng parents ko na magsabi sa kanila kung ano ang intentions nila sa akin," explained Sarah. "I always say that I'd really appreciate a man who could face my parents."

Given that Sarah lives in a modern society,  such a guy could belong to  a dying breed and it may take years before she meets and marries her ideal man.

Good thing Sarah's priorities remain unchanged - work and family over having a boyfriend.

"It's not practical for me to fall in love right now; it could only be a distraction. Baka magiging puro puso o pag-ibig na lang ang mangyari," she said.

Even if she only had a very brief relationship, Sarah feels she’s the type of woman who would give everything to the man she would love in the future.

What is the real score then with her and Gerald or Kean?

Although she finds Gerald good looking and sweet, Sarah said she doesn't want to turn their professional relationship into a romantic one. As she always says, "Wag natin ipagpilitan."

For Sarah, if romance would bloom between her and Gerald, it would just happen.

As for Kean, Sarah  is flattered that he finds her beautiful. She thinks he’s a good person, but she's content that they have collaborated in a song from her "One Heart" album.

Now that she’s 23, will she declare her independence and move out from home?

"Hindi ko pa kayang mag-solo at manirahan na mag-isa sa isang condo. Siguro mga simpleng bagay lang na dapat alam ko ng gawin tulad ng mag luto. Para mag-grow din ako, gusto kong matutong humawak ng pera," she replied.

Sarah's hectic work schedule towards the last quarter of 2011 include a movie under Star Cinema, mall tours to "One Heart" and a series of shows abroad. Sarah is also reportedly doing a movie with Nora Aunor.
