Singer Maegan Aguilar allegedly ‘beaten up’ by domestic partner
Singer Maegan Aguilar allegedly “received a nasty beating” from her domestic partner Ali Sanchez as a “parting gift” after she tried to end their relationship.
This was the allegation made by Maria Silorio, a rapper claiming to be a close friend of Aguilar, which was made more shocking by a series of photos she posted showing Maegan on a hospital gurney and wearing a neck brace.
"Sa ngayon po mukhang dislocated ang right arm ni Ate Maegan at kitang-kita din po na lamog sa bugbog at pasa ang likod at hips nya dahil sa pagtilapon sa kanya ni Kuya Ali ng magpumilit itong umuwi sa condo ni Ate kaninang 2:45am," Silorio posted on Friday, Nov. 8 at 9 p.m.
‘Threatens her life’
Her status message appeared a few minutes later under Aguilar’s own Facebook page.
Silorio accused Sanchez, the father of the Aguilar’s youngest child, of being “an alcoholic that often reaches a violent black out state & beats up my friend & threatens her life.”
She said that Aguilar did not report the domestic violence that has been happening to the authorities “dahil ayaw nya pong lumabas itong parte ng buhay nya sa publiko,” Silorio wrote.
“Pero ito pong huling insidente ay nagdulot po talaga ng kritikal na kalagayan sa kanya.”
Marlene Aguilar’s reaction
“I told Maegan to leave Ali, but she didn't listen. I would never understand why women would stay with a man who is jobless and violent,” Aguilar’s outspoken aunt Marlene commented on Facebook.
“Palamunin na nga yang Ali na yan, nananakit pa. Pero nung una pa lang niya sinaktan si Maegan, dapat pinalayas na siya ng pamangkin ko.”
Under Philippine laws, any act of violence against women carries criminal penalties and civil liability for damages.
Rift with Ka Freddie
Maegan Aguilar is the daughter of Pinoy folk icon, Ka Freddie “Anak” Aguilar. Early this year, father and daughter figured in a public furor over Freddie’s marriage to his young, new bride.
Ka Freddie subsequently threw Maegan and her family out of his house .
Marlene, Freddie’s sister, has publicly supported her niece after she, partner Ali Sanchez and Meagan’s two children were left homeless.

Career on the upswing
Aguilar’s latest trial comes at a time when her singing career is on the upswing.
Her new band Glass Cherry Breakers won the recent International Blues Challenge Philippine edition, a triumph that earned the band the right to represent the Philippines in the Memphis, Tennessee blues competition in January 2015.
The band was scheduled to play in a bar in Quezon City Saturday evening before the alleged domestic violence happened.
