Singers who debuted through audition programs are now taking the lead.
Half of April has gone, and the warm weather is getting people's outfits thinner and lighter. While many idol stars were warming many music fans up during the earlier part of the year, now a great number of musicians who debuted through audition programs are taking the lead.
The artists who are producing the most powerful wave are none other than YG Entertainment's AKDONG MUSICIANS(Lee Chan Hyuk, Lee Soo Hyun). They became the final winners of SBS 'K-Pop Star 2' last year, and after a year of thorough preparation, have released their first debut album, 'PLAY,' on April 7th.
AKDONG MUSICIANS have made huge hits with songs of their own compositions and lyrics when they were casting in 'K-Pop Star 2,' and all of the tracks of their debut album dominated on various music charts directly after getting released.
'200%,' which is one of the title tracks of the album, is still maintaining its #1 position on various real time charts, and it debuted #1 on seven weekly charts as well. All of the songs in the album are of Lee Chan Hyuk's own compositions and lyrics, and it seems that AKDONG MUSICIANS have succeeded in making an extremely successful debut.
JYP Entertainment's female duo, 15&(Baek Ye Lin, Park Ji Min), are also showing a huge power, threatening AKDONG MUSICIANS' ranking. 15& made their first comeback performance during April 13th broadcast of 'K-Pop Star 3,' and showcased their new title track, called 'Can't Hide It.'
'Can't Hide It' debuted #1 on a great number of real time charts, winning over AKDONG MUSICIANS' '200%,' immediately after getting released. Even though AKDONG MUSICIANS quickly retook the #1 position, 'Can't Hide It' is still ranking 2nd or 3rd.
Stars who participated in 'Super Star K' are also showing a huge power. Park Si Hwan, who participated in 'Super Star K5' last year, recently debuted with a song called, 'I Just Loved You,' and the song debuted #1 on Mnet chart, dominating over AKDONG MUSICIANS.
'I Just Loved You' is a medium-tempo pop number of Park Geun Tae's composition and Shim Hyun Bo's lyrics, and the verse of late Kim Gwang Seok's 'Even Though I Loved You' was sampled in the middle of the song.
Eddy Kim(Kim Jung Hwan), who debuted through 'Super Star K4' back in 2012, signed a management contract with Mystic89, and released his debut album, 'The Manual,' on April 11th.
Yoon Jong Shin in 'The Manual' album as a producer, and Eddy Kim composed all of the six tracks in the album. The title track, 'Push & Pull,' and another song called 'The Manual' peaked high rankings on various music charts.
Eric Nam, who participated in MBC 'Great Birth 2,' signed a management contract with B2M Entertainment, and released a new song called 'Ooh Ooh' on April 8th. Lastly, Two-Thousand WON(Kim Il Do, Kim Hyo Bin) released their debut mini album on April 11th.
