Taiwan's first low-budget carrier set to take off

More details have emerged on the launch of Taiwan's first low-budget airline which is set to launch this year in response to rising demand from Taiwanese travelers.

On Monday, TransAsia Airways unveiled the new corporate logo for their subsidiary line V Air, a Formosan black bear identifiable by the white V shape on its chest. The animal is an endangered species native to Taiwan.

The budget carrier is expected launch later this year.

According to the Taipei Times, the new airline will begin service to a trio of routes that will include Japan and South Korea, before expanding to about six destinations.

The airline will operate with three Airbus 321 aircraft in the first year.

According to the Taipei Times, TransAsia Airways is also set to launch its first intercontinental route by 2016.
