Teejay Marquez, New Underwear Celebrity Endorser

Executives of Walker Underwear has a ready answer as to why they signed as endorser a newcomer in Teejay Marquez, when in fact they have in their fold an A-lister in Jericho Rosales.

According to them, they tapped Echo when he was likewise fairly new in showbiz himself. At that time, his claim to fame was his title as Mr. Pogi, which he earned by winning the popular contest in ''Eat Bulaga.'' His star brightened up ever since, thanks to hard work, perseverance, and his dedication to his chosen career.

Hence, they're seeing the same potential Echo had in Teejay, who may not have joined any search but has numerous TV commercials where he appeared, from those he did with Jollibee to Western Union, to the currently airing Talk N Text ad, and the upcoming Mitsubishi Motors TVC to bank on.

Just in his early 20s, Teejay, a talent of GMA-7 who previously appeared on teleseryes ''Time Of My Life'' and ''Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,'' is the latest addition to the roster of Walker image models. Walker executives see him as representing the young crowd which they want to reach through their stylish, colorful items that came out in their recent Extreme Collection. Walker, known for its basic colored briefs, has unveiled the ''beyond the usual'' undergarment designs that come in various colors.

Walker, put up in 1954, is a household brand among Filipinos that some people think of as synonymous to briefs. Both endorsers recently had pictorials that reflected their respective personalities and lifestyle. Jericho projected more than his famed boy-next-door appeal - showcasing his natural flair for characterization by donning sporty and gothic looks. Teejay's photos, meanwhile, exude wholesome and fresh appeal.

Manay Gina's 2012 Achievements

Rep. Gina Vera Perez de Venecia (more popularly called Manay Gina) has a lot to thank for this year. She started 2012 by getting an award from PAPI, a publishers' group, as the only female honoree in the roster of Top 10 Congressmen of the Philippines, and she will cap the year as the country's representative in a world forum on ecological safety in Bali, Indonesia.

In between, Manay Gina gets to work for her favorite bills - from naming malunggay as a national veggie to humanitarian advocacies such as building assister-centers for children suffering from Down syndrome and autism.

Last Dec. 11, she talked at the Second World Ecological Safety Assembly at the Sukarno Center in Bali, about her and the country's initiatives to combat climate change. She was invited by Dr. H. Marzuki Alie, speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and chairman of the Second World Ecological Safety Assembly, and Dr. Jiang Mingjun, president of the International Ecological Safety Cooperative Organization.

Just recently, Manay Gina hosted her annual fun-filled Christmas lunch for members of the media at her and former Speaker Joe de Venecia's residence in S. Forbes Park.
