The multi-talented Xian Lim wants to focus on acting

As actor, host, model, singer and musician, Xian Liam may be a "multi-slashie," but one talent rules above all else--acting.

In fact, it's something the 22-year-old actor wants to focus on.

Xian currently plays Andy Wu in the ABS-CBN TV series, “My Binondo Girl,” together with Kim Chiu, Matteo Guidicelli and Jolo Revilla. In the role of the responsible and career-driven brother of Matteo’s character in the TV drama, Xian  also gets called upon to play the piano and show off another of his talents.

“To be honest, I’ve been waiting for this break. It’s better to focus and make the best out of it. I prioritize the work given to me because I’ve waited for this for so long,” Xian told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! at the photo shoot of the holiday collection of the clothing brand Mint, in Midas Hotel Thursday.

Xian previously appeared in the series, "Katorse," which starred Erich Gonzales. He was also seen in  “100 Days to Heaven,” “Your Song,” “Rubi,” and “My Girl.”

In "My Binondo Girl," Xian plays the lead at last and this early, he is looking forward to a long and fruitful career.

Diverse roles

"In the future, sana I’ll be able to sustain it. Hindi lang yung one-time, big time. I wanna last long in the industry,” Xian said.

And how does he plan to do it?

“I wanna portray different characters and be a diverse actor. Sana, it goes well. For me, I wanna experience a lot of things and I’m open to other roles,”  he said.

In fact, Xian appeared last year in “Two Funerals," an independently-produced black comedy directed by Gil Portes, who was impressed that the young actor came fully-prepared at the audition.

“Super nakakatuwa," he said of the experience even though he acknowledged that "Direk Gil is very strict."

No love team...yet

In “My Binondo Girl,” Xian isn't paired opposite anybody but it's something he doesn't mind.

“Siyempre, I also wanna know how it would feel to care for someone on-screen, and maybe off-screen di ba,” Xian said, reconsidering.

Still, in his desire to become a versatile actor, he thinks that a love team may box him in as well.

"Sana, hindi naman magtatapos doon, di ba? Sana, pagkatapos ng love team, sana merong other roles which I can play. Sana, hindi lang isa,” Xian shared.

For inspiration in his career, he looks up to veteran actors.

“I always tell everyone na I idolize Christopher de Leon and Cherie Gil.... Iniisip ko na sana maging ganoon ako.  I actually see myself doing more drama now. But hopefully, action also. I wanna be exposed to other genres as much as possible,” Xian noted.
