Tokyo Fashion Week: highlights from day two
Day two at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in the Japanese capital brought soft folding, spring metallics and transparency. Here's our pick of the highlights.
Ritsuko Shirahama
Ritsuko Shirahama showed a Spring/Summer 2015 collection packed with twists on classic fashion staples, from Chanel-like woven skirt and jacket pairings, to 1960s style headgear and kohl eyeliner. Prints included both abstract geometric designs and illustrated belts, while other finishes included pastel dyed furs and sporty transparent mesh.
Matohu
Japanese designers Hiroyuki Horihata and Makiko Sekiguchi worked with tailoring, pleats, and lots of floaty light layers for their latest collection. Headgear was focused on woven asymmetric shapes, while the color palette stuck to simple creams and pale pastels, with a few dark greens and blues added into the mix.
A Degree Fahrenheit
Yu Amatsu's A Degree Fahrenheit collection went metallic for Spring/Summer 2015 with shimmering tailoring arriving on the runway in a series of total looks in silver and gray. Elsewhere the designer joined the logomania trend, printing the brand's name in capitals across a series of looks in silk.
