Toni on Mariel: We’re okay

Toni Gonzaga has denied talks that she and former “Happy Yipee Yehey” co-host Mariel Rodriguez have a rift, saying that they are in speaking terms even after news to the contrary came out in the papers.

On September 25, Sunday’s episode of “The  Buzz,” Toni revealed that she was surprised when news spread that she and Mariel are not in good terms. Toni said that she immediately texted Mariel after she read Philippine Star Entertainment Editor Ricky Lo’s column, which quoted Mariel as saying, “Sa totoo lang po, ako I have no problem with the other hosts. But, Toni doesn't like me. It's very obvious that she can't stand me, sad to say.”

“Sabi ko, 'What happened?' Kasi before she stopped attending 'Happy Yipee,' we had a good talk and then from our hearts, we are okay. Actually, up to now we are okay. So, I do not know where this was coming from," Toni added.

She assured everyone that everything’s okay between her and Mariel and they won’t go through another rift like the one they had last year.

“There’s no issue between me and Mariel. Mariel and I are okay. We are on speaking terms. Hindi na mauulit pa 'yung akala niyo 'yung dating may misunderstanding, may rift, wala pong ganoon ngayon,” Toni said.

Toni and Mariel’s had a highly-publicized rift last year. It stemmed from negative remarks the latter allegedly made behind Toni’s back.

The two were not in speaking terms for months. But Toni and Mariel patched things up and started working again together.

They first started working together as “Pinoy Big Brother” co-hosts. Toni added that Mariel is like a sister to her, so she only has good words for her. Now that Mariel is switching networks (from ABS-CBN to TV5), Toni wishes her well.

"For myself, I will not say anything against Mariel because sa halos limang taon na kasama ko si Mariel, she has been a sister to me and like what I always say to her, kaming lahat sa “Happy Yipee Yehey,” we will always wish you the best and we wish you well," Toni said.
