Toni puts spotlight on Alex

Toni Gonzaga revealed she let her younger sister Alex shine during her concert titled “Toni @ 10”  which was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The concert held last Friday, September 30 was a celebration of Toni’s 10th year in showbiz and had Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, John Lloyd Cruz, Pokwang and Vice Ganda as guests.

But it was her production number with Alex that Toni enjoyed most.

“Pinaka-memorable for me is yung production number namin ng sister ko,” Toni told the press at her thanksgiving party in Don Henrico’s Restaurant in Quezon City on Thursday, October 7.

Alex parodied the TV character ‘Babaeng Hampaslupa’ and sung Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” with Toni, who  could not believe her childhood dream of performing at the Big Dome  has finally come true.

Her sister's turn

The press noted how Alex provided comic relief during the concert. Toni even joked that she, not Alex, should be credited for the script.

She stressed that she let Alex shine since she (Toni) has always gotten opportunities to showcase her talents.

“Binigay ko talaga yung moment na ‘yun. For ten years, it has always been my moment.

Supportive boyfriend

Another highlight of the concert was the surprise participation of Toni’s boyfriend Paul Soriano. Vice Ganda sang Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m into You” and danced in front of Paul.

Toni also dismissed rumors which said that Vice Ganda’s performance irked Paul. In fact, Toni revealed that she, Paul and Vice Ganda even got to text each other after the concert.

I think Paul already aired his side na there’s no bad blood between him and Vice. Nagapapasalamat nga ako kay Vice kasi yung concert, ginawa niya yun for the love of me,” Toni said.

She also shared that Paul is so proud and happy for her. On the day of her concert, Paul tweeted, “Tonight her dream comes true.”

“Very happy, overwhelmed and proud siya. Masaya siya kasi sabi nya, ‘We used to talk about this dati. And now you’re fulfilling your dreams,’” Toni said.

The success of the concert has led to talks about provincial shows Star Records and ABS-CBN will mount for Toni.

Nakaka-touch,” Toni said.

“Toni @ 10,” directed by Johnny Manahan, will be shown on October 9, 10:45 p.m. on ABS-CBN’s “Sunday ‘s Best” after “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
