Year In Review 2014: Top celebrity engagements
Romance ruled 2014 as many celebrities got engaged – some through grand, attention-getting proposals; others through low-key announcements with family and friends.
Here’s a list of showbiz's future Mr. and Mrs.:
1. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera
Many people saw how Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s love story turned from reel to real. Filipino TV viewers still became part of the couple’s engagement when Dingdong proposed to Marian on national television in her self-titled dance show last August 9. Dingdong already proposed to Marian in Macau in 2012, but he made his second proposal “to do it right this time.” The Kapuso king and queen are set to hold their ‘royal wedding’ on December 30 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City.
2. Heart Evangelista and Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero
Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero’s love remained strong despite family conflicts and other challenges. Chiz proposed to Heart in his hometown, Sorsogon in August 23. Their family and close friends, including Lovi Poe and Alessandra de Rossi, witnessed the sweet proposal which was sealed with a fireworks display. Heart and Chiz will tie the knot in Balesin on February 15, 2015.
3. John Prats and Isabel Oli
What Isabel Oli thought was just a normal shopping day turned out to be something else after boyfriend of two years, John Prats staged his grand proposal through a flash mob in Eastwood City on September 24.
Many couples want their engagement to be private and intimate. Not John, who had hundreds of mall shoppers and a 300-member dance crew as witnesses to his proposal.
4. Yeng Constantino and Yan Asuncion
Yeng Constantino, 26, got engaged to her first boyfriend Yan Asuncion in March 8, only a year after they became a couple. Yan, who works in a church music ministry, proposed to Yeng at an open field in Taguig City, where they had their first date. Yeng and Yan will hold their wedding, which she said will be filled with lots of music, on February 14, 2015 in Tagaytay City.
5. Gab Valenciano and Tricia Centenera
After Paolo Valenciano got married in February 2013, his brother Gab is following suit. Gab proposed to girlfriend Tricia Centenera last May during an intimate dinner with their family and close friends in the Valencianos’ Antipolo residence. Gab, known for his ‘super selfie’ videos, asked for Tricia’s hand in marriage by showing her a visual presentation. The couple will tie the knot in Tagaytay City in March 2015.
