'Top Gear' presenter James May to bow out after Clarkson?

'Top Gear' presenters Jeremy Clarkson (C), James May (L) and Richard Hammond return for 'The Grand Tour.'

UK "Top Gear" presenter James May has reportedly told The Guardian that he is unlikely to return to the BBC show without co-host Jeremy Clarkson, who was booted from the show last month amidst much turmoil.

According to the paper, May said it would be "lame" to do it with a "surrogate Jeremy."

The hit motoring show, previously hosted by May, Clarkson and fellow presenter Richard Hammond, has courted controversy since Clarkson was removed from his role after assaulting producer Oisin Tymon.

The rumor mill regarding the future of the show is now in overdrive, with The Daily Mail hinting that even a completely new presenting team could be in order, given that the contracts of both May and Hammond also expired last month.
