Top rising food-related search terms this week: Food Battle 2012

The latest installment of a popular YouTube show that pits one food item against the other was the top rising food-related search term on Google this week.

As of October 24, 9 am GMT, "Food Battle 2012" experienced a 300 percent increase in online activity over the last seven days.

In the latest episode, hosts Anthony and Ian pit the egg roll against the pink sprinkled donut in various sketches that alternate between adolescent humor, zombie references and food stunts.

Meanwhile, the trendy "Paleo Diet" – also known as the Caveman Diet -- was the second most popular food search term among Google users. The diet is based on the principle of consuming foods that humans ate 2.6 million years ago – foods like fresh meats, fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and oils. Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods are banned.

Rounding out the top five food-related search terms were "Halloween party food," "Ikea food" and "Mr. Food," a US TV host and chef who emphasizes simple recipes.
