'Twin Peaks' nets 18 episode run, original composer

Twin Peaks star, Pamela Gidley, dies ages 52

The resurrected "Twin Peaks" TV project will be subject to an 18-episode order under the direction of David Lynch, with Angelo Badalamenti on board as composer.

Fresh news on the new season of the cult series emerged from northwest US' horror convention, Crypticon, in Seattle.

As comprehensive fan hub Welcome to Twin Peaks reminds us, season three was initially expected to span 9 episodes when first announced in October 2014.

Lynch's involvement, and the series' future, had been in the balance until mid-May when the director, cast, and TV network Showtime rallied.

In addition to commissioning now-legendary composer Badalamenti, an iconic "Twin Peaks" location will also make a return.

The series' Double R Diner is, in real life, Twede's Cafe in North Bend, Washington state, and will once more appear in "Twin Peaks" when filming starts this September.
