Veteran entertainment writer accepts Carla's apology

It looks like the issue between veteran entertainment writer Mario Bautista and Kapuso actress Carla Abellana can now be put to rest.

In an article published in his website, Bautista revealed that the “My Neighbor's Wife” actress reached out to him through a text message. This was a day after Bautista met Geoff Eigenmann, Carla's boyfriend, in Iriga City last weekend and “told him to say 'Hi' to his girlfriend for us.”

Part of Carla's text message, which was published in Showbiz Portal, reads: “Sabi po kasi ni Geoff nagkita daw kayo at sabi niyo po mag-hi sa akin. Thank you for that simple gesture. I am deeply touched. It just comes to show that you are a very kind man. Nung sinabi po sa akin ni Geoff yun, naiyak po talaga ako.”

“It’s been very difficult for me these past few weeks ever since our last meeting. And I continue to hope and pray that you would accept my apology for offending you. Thank you for taking the time to read my message.”

Bautista ended his article, “The tone of the message now is so different from the harsh and strongly worded email letter she sent us. Apology accepted.”

It will be recalled  that during the press conference for "My Neighbor's Wife," Bautista confronted  Carla  because of  the letter she e-mailed to Bautista about his “People's Journal” story titled “Geoff Won't Watch Carla's Daring Movie.” According to Carla, the quotes used in the article were not from her. Bautista explained they were taken from a press released given by Regal Films as part of the promotion for “My Neighbor's Wife.”

In an interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of the press during the press conference for direct-selling brand Marikina Shoe Exchange (MSE) last Monday, September 5, Carla said the press conference incident made her respect Bautista more.

“Hindi pa kami nagkikita, hindi pa kami nag-uusap. I'm hoping to see him in one of the presscons,” she said.

Carla added, “I'm sure he will find it in his heart to accept my apology. Sa aming dalawa na yun.”

What does she feel about the negative press she got because of the issue?

“Si God na lang ang bahala dun. I know my fans are smart enough. My friends and family know the truth. So hanggang sa talagang kilala nila ako, wala akong problema. Kahit na may mga articles na lumalabas na di maganda or di totoo, okay lang as long as I know the truth and my friends, my family, and my fans know the truth. Si God na lang ang bahala dun,” Carla explained.
